Generative artificial intelligence and the “data fabric” are among the major technological trends highlighted by Gartner.

The market research company delivered its list of technology trends to watch at its Gartner IT Symposium / Xpo 2021 Americas.

These are 12 Tech trends that should mark 2022 and the years to come.

It includes AI, advanced data analysis, and composable architecture.

Data, AI, and distributed enterprise

1. Generative AI

By 2025, Gartner predicts that 10% of the data produced, compared to less than 1% today, will come from generative artificial intelligence (AI) – machine learning methods that learn from data to generate new artifacts. “Realistic and original.” Generative AI can be used for software code creation, drug development, and marketing targeting.

2. Data Fabric

Data Fabric is gaining momentum. Presented as “flexible data integration across platforms and business users,” this approach would reduce data management efforts by up to 70% and accelerate value creation.

3. “Distributed” enterprise

The distributed business relies on technologies and services, including the cloud, using a distribution model from different physical locations rather than centralized. And this to support hybrid work (remote and face-to-face).

Gartner predicts that by 2023, 75% of organizations that take advantage of the “distributed” model will have 25% faster revenue growth than their competitors.

4. Cloud-native platform

The platforms created and optimized for the cloud would serve as the basis for more than 95% of new digital initiatives by 2025, compared to 39% in 2021.

5. Autonomous systems

Beyond “classic” automation and programming, Gartner defines stand-alone systems as self-managed physical or software systems that learn from their environment. As a result, they can “dynamically modify their algorithms without an external software update,” says the analyst firm.

6. Decision intelligence

One such concept focuses on improving decision-making through automation and advanced data analysis. Gartner predicts that one-third of large companies will use business intelligence to enhance their competitive advantage within two years.

7. Composable applications

According to the firm, composable architecture and applications allow the company to adapt to the accelerated pace of change and gain a competitive advantage.

8. Hyper-automation

Gartner is again promoting this hyper-automation concept, which aims to identify, control, and automate as many approved business and IT processes as possible.

9. Confidential information

The confidential data is designed to manage and enhance the security and compliance of an organization and its ecosystem.

Gartner expects 60% of large enterprises to use one or more privacy-enhancing computational techniques by 2025.

10. Cyber security mesh

Gartner reaffirms that mesh cybersecurity (the cybersecurity mesh providing application-level protection) must allow secure access to any digital asset, no matter where that asset is located.

According to the research firm, organizations that opt for this mesh could reduce the costs of cyber incidents by 90% on average by 2024.

11. AI engineering

Also mentioned last year, Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineering is an integrated approach to making AI models operational. Therefore, it should make it possible to support the production of AI projects that are still blocked at the prototype stage.

12. Total experience (TX)

Finally, Gartner anticipates that organizations engaged in the Total Experience – mixing user (UX), customer (CX), employee (EX) experiences – will be the most likely to benefit from increasingly mobile and distributed interactions.
